nat wasn’t even going to answer to that. anyone with common sense could see what it was, and tasha was toying with her. an eyeroll and a little grin is given, head becoming tilted enough for the other to be able to see the widow’s eyes from above.

“ WHOA, WHOA, WHOA. since when are you one to get so philosophical ? ” she holds back a chuckle, a leg becoming deliberately tucked underneath – hardly being able to seen under his sweatshirt anyways. her arms become hugged for warmth as she leans closer.
“ it’s the memory that counts though, right ? the fact that you were there, that it happened. ”

lips became curved, heart nearly dropping it’s way out of her chest. the words she had wanted to hear for so long, the words she had longed for. she covered and cupped the receiving end of the telephone to her lips as she strolled her way around the small flat, smile only growing as she did. however, being as pride-filled as she was, there was no way in hell she would let all of that show.
“ well, you better hurry up then, SOLDIER. i won’t wait for much longer. ” but of course, she’s only teasing. something that steve was probably so used to at this point.
you know when like…no one really knows you because you work really hard to keep components of yourself (some might say even all of yourself) completely hidden from people and so even people closest to you that’ve “known” you for years probably don’t actually know you as much as they think they do? and then you feel like a sense of disconnection, like that realization that no one really knows you–not your friends, family, boyfriend, girlfriend etc–and you’re kind of completely alone and you’re unsettled by it…but not enough to actually let people get to know you, because having people not know you at all is a big part of your identity now and it’s impossible to give that up?

“ STEVE. you know that, i know that. everyone in this room knows that. that’s not something you have to prove — not to him, not to ANYBODY. ” his blue eyes are found and they share this glance before she sighs to herself, looking down. when her focus is on him again, she’s stretching herself upward and resting her forearm on his shoulder. digits run through his mess of hair and she offers off a small smile.
“ you’re a good guy, old man. don’t let that change. ”
SUNGLASSES ARE flipped open & pushed back onto her face — a grin of her own arising. “ you’ve got a dashing good point, but, a little recognition never hurt anybody. ” eyes quietly advert over tasha’s shoulder at the subject at hand, scarlet-painting lips beginning to mumble. “you might want to get ready, stark. your ‘ cool ’ is gonna be a little tested today. can you handle it ? ”
